THE ROLE OF LEADERSHIP IN FOSTERING A POSITIVE WORK ENVIRONMENT

This research explores the role of leadership in fostering a positive work environment. Objectives are: (1) to assess the impact of leadership on workplace culture, (2) to analyze the relationship between leadership and employee well-being, and (3) to identify best practices for creating a positive work environment. A survey design is chosen for its ability to provide quantitative insights from numerous respondents. Using Taro Yamane's formula, the sample size is 340, ensuring accuracy and reliability. The study focuses on the banking sector in Lagos, Nigeria, where a positive work environment is crucial. The reliability coefficient score is 0.87, indicating consistent results. Findings reveal that transformational and servant leadership styles significantly foster a positive work environment, enhancing employee well-being and productivity. Recommendations include implementing leadership development programs that focus on creating a supportive and inclusive work environment to enhance overall workplace culture.
